UAE Delegation Engages in 2024 IMF and World Bank Spring Meetings

UAE, 20 April, 2024 : The United Arab Emirates, represented by the Ministry of Finance, is participating in the 2024 Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group (WBG) in Washington D.C. from April 15 to 20, 2024. His Excellency Mohamed bin Hadi Al Hussaini, Minister of State for Financial Affairs, is leading the UAE delegation, accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank of the UAE.

During the Spring Meetings, Minister Al Hussaini will attend the second G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting under the Brazilian presidency. He will also deliver a keynote address at the International Monetary and Financial Committee (IMFC) plenary and chair the joint WBG-IMF Development Committee plenary. Additionally, he is scheduled to meet with IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva and other finance ministers and central bank governors from the Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan, and Pakistan (MENAP) region.

His Excellency emphasized the significance of global collaboration to address developmental needs and highlighted the Spring Meetings as a crucial platform for extensive dialogue among key stakeholders. Minister Al Hussaini stated that the UAE aims to advance discussions on macroeconomic stability, debt sustainability, and the impact of geopolitical challenges on global trade and growth prospects. He stressed the importance of strengthening multilateral efforts for sustainable development and promoting an inclusive and resilient global path.

The Spring Meetings will convene central bankers, finance and development ministers, private sector executives, civil society representatives, and academics to discuss global economic outlooks, poverty eradication, economic development, and aid effectiveness. The main ministerial events will occur from April 17 to 19, with additional seminars, regional briefings, and press conferences throughout the week.
