Bahrain's Minister of Industry and Commerce Leads Delegation to GCC Standardization Committee Meeting in Doha

Bahrain, 3 May, 2024 : H.E. Mr. Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro, Bahrain's Minister of Industry and Commerce and Chairman of the National Committee for Standardization and Metrology, emphasized the significance of strengthening partnerships with standardization bodies across GCC nations.

During the 7th meeting of the GCC Ministerial Committee for Standardization Affairs held in Qatar, Minister Fakhro underscored the importance of collaboration. The meeting, attended by Mr. Jassim Muhammad Al-Budaiwi, Secretary General of the GCC, and heads of delegations from member states, addressed various topics.

Key agenda items included the approval of outcomes from the 58th meeting of the GSO Technical Council, held from April 24 to 25, 2024, and the endorsement of the GSO's final account for the fiscal year 2023. Discussions also centered on legislation and initiatives aimed at enhancing product safety and quality in the Gulf market, as well as supporting the development of quality services and infrastructure, aligned with international standards for environmental protection.
