DP World and Mawani Launch $250 Million Logistics Park at Jeddah Islamic Port

KSA, 27 May, 2024 : Dubai-based DP World and Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) have embarked on the construction of a new $250 million logistics park at Jeddah Islamic Port. The project aims to enhance trade in Saudi Arabia and the wider region by providing modern storage and distribution facilities.

The logistics park, spanning 415,000 sq m, will include 185,000 sq m of warehousing space and a large multipurpose storage yard, making it the largest integrated logistics park in the Kingdom. With a capacity for over 390,000 pallet positions, it will facilitate the smooth flow of goods to and from Jeddah.

Scheduled for completion in Q2 2025, the Jeddah Logistics Park will feature a rooftop solar plant generating 20MW of renewable energy, aligning with sustainable design principles. This venture is part of a 30-year concession established in 2022.

Additionally, DP World and Mawani's collaboration involves the management of the South Container Terminal, with a separate 30-year concession signed in 2020. The terminal is undergoing modernization, expected to conclude in Q4 2024, increasing its handling capacity to five million TEUs.

Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman and CEO of DP World, highlighted the significance of the investment, emphasizing its support for Saudi Vision 2030 and commitment to facilitating trade.

Omar Bin Talal Hariri, President of Mawani, emphasized the logistical benefits of the project, stressing its alignment with the National Transport and Logistics Strategy and Vision 2030.

Aligned with Saudi Vision 2030, the Jeddah Logistics Park will optimize logistics processes for importers and exporters, offering integrated trade and logistics services. This initiative expands DP World's logistics footprint in Saudi Arabia, strengthening supply chains in the region.
