UAE Cabinet Reviews Achievements, Approves AI Ethical Charter and Digital Transformation Framework

UAE, 11 June, 2024 : Under the chairmanship of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, the UAE Cabinet convened at Qasr Al Watan. Key officials, including Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, were in attendance.

Emirates Genome Council Achievements

The Cabinet reviewed the Emirates Genome Council's progress, highlighting the collection of over 600,000 genetic samples and training of 1,000 medical professionals. Plans are in place to expand to one million samples, aiming to enhance healthcare through genetic research.

AI and Digital Transformation

The Cabinet approved an Ethical Charter for AI, ensuring high standards of safety and privacy. Additionally, a general framework for sustainable digital transformation was adopted, promoting eco-friendly practices within the federal government.

Economic Initiatives

A working team led by the Ministry of Economy will develop the UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry, aiming to strengthen the economy and open global markets. The UAE also committed to the International Code for the Protection of Tourists and joined the BRICS financial track, reflecting its dedication to global economic collaboration.

Legislative Approvals

The Cabinet approved several legislative measures, including a federal law on traffic and road safety, a law on combating communicable diseases, and regulations on financial restructuring and bankruptcy. These measures aim to enhance public health and safety and streamline economic processes.

Digital Government and AI Leadership

The UAE's digital government achievements were recognized, with the country ranking first globally in various government service indices. Key initiatives like the UAE Digital Government Strategy 2025 and the National AI Strategy 2031 were highlighted.

Infrastructure and Environmental Policies

The Cabinet reconstituted the Boards of Directors for Etihad Rail and the UAE Circular Economy Council, emphasizing sustainable development. The UAE Council for Climate Action's achievements were also reviewed, including preparations for COP28 and strategies for climate neutrality.

International Agreements

The Cabinet ratified several international agreements, including economic partnerships with Costa Rica and bilateral accords with Kazakhstan and Kenya. These agreements aim to enhance economic cooperation and legal assistance.

In summary, the UAE Cabinet meeting underscored significant advancements in healthcare, AI, digital transformation, economic development, legislative reforms, and international cooperation, positioning the UAE as a global leader in these domains.
