DCC Hosts Roundtable to Propel Private Sector Growth in Dubai

UAE, 20 June, 2024 : Dubai Chamber of Commerce (DCC), one of the three chambers under Dubai Chambers, hosted the second quarterly roundtable of Business Groups and Councils for 2024. The event attracted representatives from various private sector companies in the emirate.

The meeting highlighted economic growth prospects and opportunities for the private sector across diverse industries. Attendees were briefed on the chamber’s latest initiatives and future plans aimed at ensuring an enabling environment for sustainable business growth. Discussions focused on enhancing local companies' competitiveness in line with global economic developments.

In Q1 2024, DCC held 24 meetings with Business Groups and Councils, including the inaugural Annual General Meetings of the Polish and Qazaqstan Business Councils. The chamber reviewed 33 laws and draft laws, with a 45% adoption rate of the recommendations.

Maha Al Gargawi, Vice President of Business Advocacy at Dubai Chambers, emphasized the commitment to increasing the private sector’s contribution to Dubai’s economy by enhancing the role of Business Groups and Councils.

The Business Groups and Councils play a crucial role in facilitating dialogue between private sector stakeholders and government entities, promoting public-private partnerships, and driving business success in Dubai.

Dubai Chambers also hosted three workshops on maritime law, data protection, and bounced cheques, attended by 226 participants. These workshops aimed to enhance business competitiveness by ensuring compliance with laws and adopting best practices.

The UAE Maritime Law workshop, in cooperation with Al Tamimi & Company, covered Federal Decree-Law No. 43 of 2023, addressing legal obligations and changes in maritime law. The data protection webinar, with Galadari Advocates & Legal Consultants, focused on compliance in recruitment and HR activities. The bounced cheques webinar, in collaboration with Clout Law Firm, clarified legal responsibilities and recourse options for payment disputes.

Additionally, Dubai Chambers signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) to enhance cooperation, strengthen trade relations, and support partnership development between the business communities in Dubai and Australia.
