KSA, 24 June, 2024 : Starting July 1, 2024, Saudi Arabia will grant Approved Destination Status (ADS) to China, following its participation in the China roadshow and ITB China in Shanghai. This move aims to enhance tourism and strengthen economic ties between the two nations.
Saudi Arabia has prepared extensively for this milestone, increasing direct flights since 2023, introducing tailored travel products, and forming strategic partnerships. The goal is to make China the Kingdom's third-largest source market for international arrivals by 2030.
Saudi Minister of Tourism Ahmed Al-Khateeb highlighted efforts to facilitate Chinese tourism, including visa facilitation, reduced fees, improved air connectivity, and providing Mandarin-language resources and signage.
Saudi Ambassador to China Abdulrahman Ahmad Al-Harbi emphasized the economic benefits of the ADS agreement, while Saudi Tourism Authority CEO Fahd Hamidaddin noted the partnerships with Chinese brands and the increase in flight capacity to enhance the travel experience.
Saudi Arabia aims to attract five million Chinese tourists by 2030, with new direct flights by Air China, China Eastern, and China Southern, alongside existing Saudia flights, boosting inbound seat capacity by 130% and doubling weekly flights compared to last year.
