Bahrain, 11 July, 2024 : Bahrain’s Labour Fund (Tamkeen) has significantly increased its inspection visits to enterprises and individuals benefiting from employment and career development programs, marking a sixfold rise compared to previous efforts.
Tamkeen has implemented a new mechanism in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour to address arbitrary dismissals, ensuring compliance with program terms. Actions include potential recovery of support funds and barring non-compliant employers from program eligibility. Proactive surveys are also conducted with wage support program beneficiaries to assess their employment status.
In the first half of this year alone, 2,341 inspection visits were conducted, uncovering various violations, including 13 cases of ghost employment, fraud, and document forgery. Tamkeen has taken necessary actions against identified violations, with cases referred to relevant authorities.
Maha Abdulhameed Mofeez, CEO of Tamkeen, emphasized the organization’s commitment to robust monitoring and inspection practices to ensure effective support reaches rightful beneficiaries. She highlighted the importance of collaboration with government partners under the Team Bahrain framework to achieve shared goals and responsibilities.
