Bahrain’s Non-Oil Exports Increase by 4% in July 2024, Re-Exports Surge 22%

Bahrain, 21 August, 2024 :  Bahrain's non-oil exports of products of national origin grew by 4% in July 2024, reaching BD337 million ($894.4 million) compared to BD323 million in July 2023, according to the Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA). The top 10 export destinations accounted for 68% of the total value, with Saudi Arabia leading at BD61 million (18%), followed by the US at BD28 million (8%) and the UAE at BD25 million (7%).

Agglomerated iron ores and concentrates alloyed were the top exports, worth BD83 million (25%), followed by unwrought aluminum alloys at BD77 million (23%).

Re-Exports Surge 22%

Non-oil re-exports increased by 22% to BD61 million, with the UAE ranking first at BD21 million (34%), followed by Saudi Arabia at BD18 million (30%). Private cars, gold ingots, and smartphones were the main re-exported products.

Imports Rise 5%

Bahrain’s non-oil imports rose by 5% to BD464 million in July 2024. China was the largest source of imports at BD73 million (16%), followed by Australia and Brazil. Other aluminum oxide was the top imported product, valued at BD66 million (14%).

The trade deficit narrowed slightly to BD66 million, compared to BD68 million in July 2023.
