Hungary and Bahrain Strengthen Ties with Key Agreements and High-Level Visits

Bahrain, 9 September, 2024 : Bahrain and Hungary have significantly strengthened their partnership, marked by high-level visits and pivotal agreements. During a recent visit to Bahrain, Hungarian Foreign Affairs and Trade Minister Péter Szijjártó met with Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif Al Zayani and senior officials, signing several key agreements.

Minister Szijjártó praised the relationship, describing it as "brotherhood," and highlighted Bahrain’s crucial support during the COVID-19 pandemic. New initiatives include a mutual investment protection agreement and collaborations in fintech, oil, cybersecurity, and education.

The visit also featured a meeting with His Majesty King Hamad, who had previously visited Hungary and expressed a positive experience, fostering greater people-to-people ties. Szijjártó emphasized the importance of economic and political cooperation and urged the EU to advance trade relations with GCC states.

Looking ahead, Szijjártó outlined Hungary's goals to enhance energy cooperation, increase tourism from the GCC region, and advance EU-GCC relations, particularly through the EU-GCC Summit. The strengthened Bahrain-Hungary relationship promises continued growth and collaboration across various sectors.
