Oman, 19 September, 2024 : H.E. Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef, Oman’s Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion, recently completed a visit to the United States aimed at boosting trade and investment relations. The visit included meetings with U.S. officials and leaders from key American industries such as manufacturing, energy, healthcare, IT, tourism, and financial services.
Accompanied by several prominent Omani and U.S. officials, including Ambassador Anas Escrohejima and members of the Oman-U.S. Business Council, Al Yousef’s trip focused on enhancing commercial ties and exploring opportunities aligned with Oman’s Vision 2040. The visit also marked the 15th anniversary of the Oman-U.S. Free Trade Agreement.
The delegation began in New York, meeting with financial, investment, and sector-specific partners, and engaging with Omani students. In Washington, D.C., they discussed maximizing Free Trade Agreement benefits, met with State Department officials, and visited the World Bank to review joint projects.
Further visits included discussions with Arizona’s trade authority and field visits to companies interested in sectors such as energy, hydrogen, and IT. The trip concluded in California, where the delegation reviewed the success of an Omani IT company and discussed leveraging the Free Trade Agreement to attract diverse investments to Oman.
