UAE, 24 September, 2024 : President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's official visit to the United States marks a significant milestone in the longstanding UAE-US relationship. Established over 50 years ago, the partnership continues to grow, emphasizing cooperation in regional security, economic prosperity, and global peace.
The two nations share deep diplomatic ties, with UAE’s embassy in Washington opening in 1974, shortly after the country's founding. In recent years, economic relations have flourished, with non-oil foreign trade reaching $39.5 billion in 2023, up from $23.8 billion in 2022. UAE imports from the US increased to $25.9 billion, while exports to the US grew to $3.9 billion.
Key investment areas include renewable energy, technology, and real estate. Notably, Microsoft announced a $1.5 billion investment in G42, further enhancing AI collaboration. Additionally, the UAE’s AI Integration Centre in Masdar City, established through a partnership with US-based World Wide Technology, underscores tech cooperation.
Space exploration also plays a vital role in UAE-US relations, with joint missions such as the UAE's Hope Probe and participation in NASA's Lunar Gateway project. The UAE is set to send its first astronaut to lunar orbit by 2030.
Climate action remains a cornerstone of bilateral efforts. The Partnership for Accelerating Clean Energy (PACE) aims to mobilize $100 billion for clean energy by 2035. The UAE and US are also leading the Agriculture Innovation Mission for Climate (AIM for Climate), promoting sustainable farming globally.
Through these collaborations, the UAE and US continue to strengthen their strategic partnership, enhancing global development, security, and sustainability.
