UAE, 25 September, 2024 : The Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) has partnered with Amazon UAE to launch the ‘DET x Amazon Accelerator,’ a strategic initiative aimed at accelerating the growth of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Dubai. The program is designed to enhance SMEs’ competitiveness on the global stage by providing access to advanced digital tools, resources, and mentorship.
Part of the wider Dubai Traders initiative under the Dubai Economic Agenda, D33, the accelerator will help SMEs build a strong online presence, digitize supply chain processes, and expand into international markets. The initiative was formalized with an agreement signed by Hadi Badri, CEO of Dubai Economic Development Corporation, and Jasmin Frick, Director of Seller Success at Amazon MENA, in the presence of Helal Saeed Almarri, Director-General of DET, and Ronaldo Mouchawar, Vice President of Amazon Middle East, North Africa, and Türkiye.
The program leverages Amazon’s 25 years of global expertise across six key pillars to empower SMEs: global reach, digital upskilling, tailored expertise, enhanced visibility, marketing support, and logistical solutions. SMEs will gain access to Amazon’s global network, tailored workshops, personalized guidance, and marketing credits to maximize their growth potential and scale beyond the UAE.
Hadi Badri highlighted that this collaboration is a significant step towards achieving the D33 agenda’s goals, enabling local SMEs to fully harness digital commerce opportunities. Ronaldo Mouchawar emphasized that the initiative will support Dubai’s SMEs in their digital transformation journey, aligning with Amazon’s ambition to host products from 100,000 businesses on Amazon.ae by 2026.
The DET x Amazon Accelerator exemplifies the strong collaboration between the public and private sectors, offering Dubai-based SMEs a unique platform to thrive and succeed globally.
