UAE and US Enhance Trade Relations with New Customs Cooperation Agreement

UAE, 26 September, 2024 : The UAE and the US signed an agreement to enhance customs cooperation during President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed’s official visit to the US. The deal focuses on boosting economic and trade ties, exchanging customs expertise, and improving information sharing between the two nations.

Ali Mohammed Al Shamsi, Chairman of the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security, and Troy A. Miller, Acting Commissioner of US Customs and Border Protection, signed the agreement.

Al Shamsi highlighted that the agreement will strengthen economic relations, increase trade, reduce customs violations, and improve technical cooperation through the exchange of expertise and best practices in customs. He emphasized the UAE's role as a global trade hub and the US as a key economic partner.
