Urban October Conference and Home & Building Expo Launches with Major Investment Announcements

Oman, 08 October, 2024 : The Urban October Conference and Home & Building Expo commenced today, drawing significant participation from international investors and consultants in urban planning and real estate development. The three-day event is held under the patronage of HH Sayyid Taimour Asa’ad Al Said, Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Central Bank of Oman (CBO).

During the opening, six partnership and cooperation agreements were signed as part of the first phase of Sultan Haitham City, with a total value exceeding RO 70 million. Notable agreements include a RO 82.7 million contract for establishing electricity, water, sewage, irrigation, and telecommunications networks, set to be completed by Towell Infrastructure Company within 24 months. Additionally, a RO 63.2 million contract was awarded to Sarooj Construction Company for main roads and tunnels, with completion expected in 30 months.

Other agreements included the construction of three transformer stations valued at over RO 6 million, and the establishment of integrated service stations, also exceeding RO 6 million, for the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs. A memorandum of understanding was signed for a land plot allocation for the Security and Safety Services Foundation in Residential District No. 17.

The event also marked the launch of new neighborhoods within Sultan Haitham City, including Al-Nuha Neighborhood (A13), which comprises 116 residential units with an investment value exceeding RO 13.4 million. The Yanayer Neighborhood (D12) was unveiled, featuring 339 units valued at over RO 38.7 million. Furthermore, sales were announced for the Sarooj Oasis Neighborhood (A13) and Al-Wafaa Neighborhood (Phase 2), together comprising over 1,900 residential units.

The conference features six main themes, showcasing more than 40 papers from local and international experts in urban planning. Key discussions included engaging youth in planning and the role of recreation in cities. An accompanying exhibition showcases future project models and features 190 exhibitors from 13 countries, presenting innovative building and design solutions.

In line with digital transformation efforts, the ministry launched 23 electronic services in the urban planning sector on the "Amalak" platform to streamline service delivery for beneficiaries.
