Qatar, 10 October, 2024 : In a joint meeting held in Doha on Wednesday, Turkish Minister of Finance Mehmet Simsek emphasized the deep and friendly relations between Qatar and Turkey as a foundation for mutual investment. He encouraged Qatari businesspersons to explore investment opportunities in Turkey and consider joint ventures in other countries.
The meeting, attended by notable figures including Qatari Businessmen Association Chairman HE Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim al-Thani and Qatar Chamber Chairman HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassem bin Mohamed al-Thani, aimed to discuss investment prospects in Turkey. Dr. Mustafa Goksu, Turkish ambassador to Qatar, expressed gratitude to the Qatari business community for their efforts in enhancing bilateral relations, emphasizing the importance of cooperation to address regional challenges.
Sheikh Khalifa welcomed the Turkish Minister, highlighting the potential for increased economic cooperation between the two nations. He noted that trade between Qatar and Turkey has surpassed QR4.75 billion, with Qatar primarily exporting petroleum products and aluminum to Turkey while importing a range of goods in return.
Vice President of the Turkish Presidency Investment Office, Furkan Karayaka, discussed Turkey's commitment to attracting foreign investment through various incentives. He noted that the Turkish Investment Office in Qatar is ready to assist Qatari investors throughout the investment process.
Minister Simsek provided an overview of Turkey's economic reforms aimed at overcoming regional challenges and enhancing productivity. He pointed to Turkey's large population of over 87 million and its strategic access to neighboring markets in Asia and Europe as significant advantages for investors. With ongoing infrastructure improvements, including airports and highways, Turkey presents numerous opportunities for Qatar's business community to explore, bolstered by strong support from the Turkish government.
