Bahrain, 17 October, 2024 : Egypt’s Minister of Housing, Sherif El-Sherbiny, met with Bahrain’s Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, Amna bint Ahmed Al-Rumaihi, to share Egypt’s expertise in urban development and housing initiatives.
El-Sherbiny highlighted Egypt's ongoing urban boom, driven by the National Strategic Urban Development Plan under President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi. He emphasized the success of the "Housing for All Egyptians" initiative, which provides diverse housing options and has eradicated 357 unsafe zones, replacing them with modern residential areas equipped with essential services.
The minister also discussed the establishment of fourth-generation smart and sustainable cities, such as the New Administrative Capital and New Alamein, as well as the development of historical districts in Cairo.
Minister Al-Rumaihi expressed Bahrain's interest in enhancing bilateral cooperation and learning from Egypt’s experiences. Both ministers agreed to hold further meetings during the World Urban Forum in Cairo next November and to organize workshops for specialists from both countries to explore technical cooperation.
