Economy Ministry Reviews Initiatives to Boost Oman’s Global Competitiveness

Oman, 24 October, 2024 : The Ministry of Economy held a press briefing today titled "Towards a More Competitive Oman" to review the country's performance in global competitiveness since the launch of Oman Vision 2040. The meeting highlighted significant progress in various indicators, reflecting the government's commitment to aligning with Vision 2040 goals.

The briefing outlined Oman’s next steps, including preparations to join the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) and plans for membership in the World Bank’s Business Readiness Index by 2025. These efforts aim to boost private sector contributions to sustainable growth.

Minister of Economy Dr. Said bin Mohammed Al Saqri noted that Oman made notable advancements in global rankings, such as moving from 149th to 54th in the Environmental Performance Index and from 95th to 56th in the Economic Freedom Index. Oman also improved its ranking in the E-Government Index and all six World Bank governance indicators.

The National Competitiveness Office presented a visual summary of ongoing efforts to enhance Oman’s global standing by developing relevant laws, regulations, and procedures. The teams are actively engaging with global institutions to update data and strengthen Oman’s presence in international rankings.
