Dubai, UAE, February 05, 2024 : Dubai is witnessing more free zones implementing the UAE Wage Protection System (WPS) to guarantee timely salary payments for employees. This step harmonizes the practices of companies in free zones with those on the mainland, fostering transparency and accountability in salary disbursements since the system's introduction in 2009.
Under the WPS, companies are required to process payroll through regulated financial institutions, ensuring that all workers, including those without bank accounts, receive their salaries promptly. This expansion of the WPS not only aims to reduce labor disputes but also seeks to safeguard the rights of employees, thereby fostering a more stable business environment across Dubai.
