UAE, 1 November, 2024 : Dubai Chambers emphasized the importance of strengthening trade, investment, and economic partnerships between Dubai and Uganda during the third Uganda-UAE Business Forum held in Dubai.
The annual event showcased the competitive advantages of the UAE and highlighted Dubai’s role as a key commercial and investment hub for Ugandan companies seeking regional and global expansion. Attendees included Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja, Prime Minister of Uganda, Majid Hamad Rahmah Alshamsi from Dubai Chamber of Commerce, and Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, President and CEO of Dubai Chambers.
In her keynote address, Prime Minister Nabbanja acknowledged the strong ties between Uganda and the UAE, built on mutual respect and shared interests. She noted that the UAE is Uganda’s leading export destination in the Middle East and a major source of Foreign Direct Investment, with investments totaling $3 billion across various sectors such as energy, healthcare, and tourism.
Majid Alshamsi highlighted the potential for trade and investment growth between the two regions and announced plans for a trade mission to Uganda next month, which will involve a delegation of Dubai-based companies exploring business opportunities in Uganda.
Mohammad Lootah underscored Dubai's strategic position as a hub for international trade, pointing out promising sectors for collaboration, including logistics, agriculture, medical equipment, construction, and information technology.
