Qatar, 7 November, 2024 : Qatar's Shura Council Speaker, HE Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim, reaffirmed Qatar's commitment to enhancing parliamentary collaboration among Asian countries to support sustainable development, regional stability, and economic prosperity. His remarks came during the opening session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly's (APA) Standing Committee on Budget and Planning meeting, held in Doha.
Highlighting Qatar's dedication to promoting dialogue and coordination, Al Ghanim pointed to Qatar’s leadership role, led by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and the recent hosting of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) Summit as key steps in fostering partnerships across Asia.
Al Ghanim emphasized the role of joint infrastructure, trade, and technology exchange as critical to accelerating economic growth and reinforcing regional ties. He also stressed the importance of addressing challenges like poverty and climate change through collective strategies, noting that sustainable development and human capacity building are central to Asia’s future.
The meetings, running through October 6, bring together APA member states to discuss budget and planning issues. On the sidelines, Al Ghanim met with parliamentary delegates from Russia and Iran to discuss strengthening bilateral relations.
The session was attended by several members of the Shura Council and delegates from APA member countries.
