Oman, 14 November, 2024 : The Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development (ASMED) held its fourth dialogue session, titled “Enhancing SME Investment in the Tourism Sector,” focusing on improving the business climate for SMEs in Oman. The session covered policies and legislation, quality and safety standards, licensing, and employment contracts in tourism.
Azzan bin Qassim Al Busaidi, Tourism Undersecretary, highlighted initiatives to support SMEs, including financing programs, training, and business accelerators. He also announced an integrated management plan for A’Sharqiyah Sands to boost sustainable tourism and competitiveness.
Attendees, including Minister of Heritage and Tourism Salim Al Mahrouqi and ASMED Chairperson Halima Rashid Al Zar’ei, proposed recommendations such as simplifying tourism legislation, raising awareness, and offering tax incentives to support SMEs in the sector.
