UAE, 15 November, 2024 : The Federal Tax Authority (FTA) held an awareness workshop on Corporate Tax for Free Zone Persons in Ras Al Khaimah, marking a significant step in the second phase of its nationwide Corporate Tax Awareness Campaign. The initiative aims to enhance understanding of the UAE’s Corporate Tax regime and the tax obligations of Free Zone Persons.
During the workshop, attended by over 200 stakeholders, the FTA emphasized the 0% Corporate Tax rate applicable to Qualifying Income for Free Zone Persons, subject to specific conditions. Income that does not meet these conditions is taxed at the standard 9% rate. The session covered Qualifying Activities, Excluded Activities, and procedures for tax registration and filing through the "EmaraTax" platform.
The FTA reiterated its commitment to supporting free zones, key contributors to the UAE’s economic diversification, through regular awareness programs. A dedicated **Corporate Tax Guide for Free Zone Persons**, available on the FTA’s website, provides practical examples and detailed insights into the tax regime.
Additionally, the FTA clarified that Resident juridical persons with licences issued in October and November must register for Corporate Tax by 30 November 2024. Registration is accessible online or via government service centres, with support available from certified tax agents listed on the FTA website.
This initiative underscores the FTA’s role in fostering compliance and sustainable economic growth in the UAE.
