FNC Approves AED 71.5 Billion Union Budget for 2025

UAE, 26 November, 2024 : The Federal National Council (FNC) has approved the Union General Budget for the fiscal year 2025, marking the largest budget in the UAE's history. The budget, amounting to AED 71.5 billion in both revenues and expenditures, reflects a balanced approach and underscores the nation’s commitment to sustainable development and improving quality of life.

During the FNC’s second ordinary session of the 18th legislative chapter, chaired by Speaker Saqr Gobash, Minister of State for Financial Affairs Mohamed Hadi Al Hussaini highlighted the robust national economy and resource sustainability supporting developmental projects.

The 2025 budget allocates AED 27.859 billion (39%) to the social development sector, including AED 9.99 billion for public and higher education, AED 5.505 billion for healthcare, and AED 8.956 billion for social care. Other key allocations include AED 8.126 billion for defence, AED 8.179 billion for public affairs and safety, AED 2.523 billion for economic affairs, and AED 23.431 billion for public services.

The session also saw the election of Marwan Obaid Al Muhairi and Mira Sultan Al Suwaidi as Council observers by acclamation.
