Oman Issues Treasury Bills Worth RO 40.15 Million, Offering Strong Returns

Oman, 26 November, 2024 :  The government issued Treasury Bills totaling RO 40.15 million, with RO 23 million allotted for 28-day bills. The average accepted price was RO 99.687 per RO 100, with a minimum price of RO 99.685. The average discount rate was 4.08%, and the average yield was 4.09%.

Additionally, RO 17.15 million worth of 91-day Treasury Bills were issued, with an average accepted price of RO 98.890 per RO 100, and an average discount rate of 4.45%, yielding 4.50%.

Treasury Bills, highly secure short-term instruments, are issued by the Ministry of Finance and managed by the Central Bank of Oman (CBO). They provide liquidity for commercial banks and support the local money market. The Repo rate is 5.25%, and the discount rate for Treasury Bill discounting is 5.75%. These bills help establish a benchmark yield curve for short-term interest rates and can be used for government financing needs.
