Bahrain Parliament Approves Fee Exemptions for Civil and Charity Societies

Bahrain, 27 November, 2024 : Bahrain’s Parliament has unanimously approved a proposal to exempt civil and charity societies from government fees. The proposal, led by Strategic Thinking Bloc spokesman Khalid Bu Onk, aims to ease the financial burden on these organizations.

Other proposals approved included the establishment of a primary and intermediate school for girls in Wadi Al Sail, the construction of a multi-purpose hall in Isa Town, and the repurposing of the former Al Khansa and Ibn Sina schools in Old Manama for social housing.

Additionally, Parliament endorsed plans to purchase the Demistan coastline for public use, replace the Mazaya housing financing scheme, and cancel interest on government housing loans. Infrastructure improvements, including the development of Shaikh Salman Highway and other major routes around the Riffa Clock Tower, were also approved.

The Parliament postponed discussions on reviewing national projects’ economic impact and proposed amendments to the National Audit Office Law to include sports and labor unions under its scrutiny. MPs also approved a draft reply to His Majesty King Hamad’s address at the opening of the new National Assembly term.
