Saudi and French Energy Ministers Discuss Investment

KSA, 4 December, 2024 : Saudi Minister of Energy Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman and French Minister for Energy Transition, Climate, and Risk Agnès Pannier-Runacher met in Riyadh to explore investment opportunities and collaboration in key sectors including petroleum, petrochemicals, renewable energy, electricity, and decarbonization technologies.

The meeting included a roundtable discussion with experts and business leaders from both nations, focusing on energy transitions, climate action, and the exchange of expertise in renewable energy generation. Key topics included advanced technologies for electricity production, grid automation, and energy efficiency improvements.

The officials also discussed solutions for climate change, particularly carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) technologies, targeting emission reductions in sectors like cement production, aviation, and petrochemicals.

A key point was Saudi Arabia's ambition to lead global hydrogen exports and low-emission electricity generation, leveraging its competitive advantage in producing these resources at cost-effective prices.
