KSA, 17 December, 2024 : The Saudi Deputy Minister of Finance for International Relations, Mr. Khalid Bawazier, led the Kingdom's delegation at the first G20 Finance and Central Banks Deputies (FCBD) meeting, held on December 11-12, 2024, in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Deputy Minister Bawazier welcomed the priorities set by the South African presidency, which focus on enhancing global economic resilience and addressing macroeconomic risks. He highlighted the importance of accelerating productivity growth in light of AI advancements, demographic shifts, and migration while emphasizing the need to address the development priorities of emerging economies.
Key discussions at the meeting included sustainable development, rising sovereign debt, and global economic challenges, with participants exploring solutions through international cooperation.
South Africa assumed the G20 presidency in November 2024 under the theme “Solidarity, Equality, Sustainability” and plans to convene around 130 meetings throughout 2025.
