UAE, 27 December, 2024 : The Dubai Free Zones Council (DFZC) reaffirmed its commitment to bolster Dubai’s free zones in 2025 and contribute to achieving the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which aims to double the size of Dubai’s economy within a decade and position it among the world’s top three cities.
At its 29th meeting, chaired by Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, members highlighted the free zones' 2024 achievements in driving economic diversification, aligned with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum for sustainable growth through competitiveness and innovation.
Enhancing Competitiveness and Investment
DFZC reviewed foreign direct investment opportunities and initiatives to enhance competitiveness by simplifying regulations, adopting advanced technologies like AI, and strengthening business infrastructure. Members also discussed dual licensing and collaboration with the Roads and Transport Authority to improve traffic safety and infrastructure in free zones.
Efficiency and Innovation
The Council noted the successful migration to a new Human Resources Approval system, reducing application processing times by 60% and boosting efficiency by 90%. Updates on corporate tax policies, the Dubai Free Zones Model 2030, and FATF compliance programmes were also presented.
Future-Ready Strategies
DFZC plans to attract Emirati talent to free zones, implement economic accelerators, and streamline business processes to ensure Dubai’s free zones remain globally competitive while supporting the D33 agenda.
