Oman and Saudi Arabia Strengthen Ties in Special Economic Zone Development

Oman, 27 December, 2024 : Sheikh Dr Ali bin Masoud al Sunaidi, Chairman of Oman’s General Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones, hosted Eng. Khalil bin Ibrahim bin Salamah, Saudi Deputy Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, to discuss enhanced economic cooperation.

The meeting focused on joint development of economic, free, and industrial zones, leveraging production chains and raw materials in existing factories. Both sides reviewed progress on the Dhahirah Integrated Economic Zone and its dry port, with infrastructure tenders involving 12 Omani and Saudi coalitions underway.

Discussions also addressed facilitating industrial product transit via the Rub Al Khali port to bolster trade between the two nations. Saudi Ambassador Ibrahim bin Saad bin Bishan and other officials from both countries attended the meeting.
