Bahrain, 2 January, 2024 : Export Bahrain has reached a significant milestone, facilitating $1 billion in export value over the past six years. Established as the national export development arm, it has played a key role in empowering Bahrain-based businesses to expand internationally, reinforcing the kingdom’s position in global trade.
The organization has shown consistent year-on-year growth, with a 167% increase in export value from 2019 to 2020, a 66% rise from 2020 to 2021, and continued growth through 2022 and 2023. This growth is a testament to its strategic focus on resilience and economic diversification, even during global challenges like the pandemic.
Export Bahrain’s efforts have expanded Bahraini exports to over 98 international markets, particularly within GCC countries, Asia, and Europe. Notable initiatives like its International Retail Initiative and E-commerce Facilitation support have empowered local businesses, resulting in over $5.8 million in revenue.
Through strategic partnerships, Export Bahrain has signed over 50 agreements and helped 20% of first-time exporters. Its programs have significantly enhanced the global competitiveness of Bahrain-based companies.
The organization’s success has been recognized with 20 awards over the last six years, and it has been nominated as a finalist in the World Trade Promotion Organisation (WTPO) Awards 2024 in the ‘Best of Partnerships’ category.
Industry and Commerce Minister Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro praised Export Bahrain’s impact on local businesses, while CEO Safa Sharif Abdulkhaliq emphasized their commitment to supporting Bahrain’s economic diversification and global expansion.
