UAE, 7 January, 2025 : The UAE Ministry of Finance will host the annual Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Middle East and North Africa Senior Budget Officials (MENA SBO) meeting in Abu Dhabi on November 18 and 19.
The event will bring together senior budget officials and managers from across the region to exchange insights on public financial management and budgeting. Key discussions will focus on public budget preparation, trends in government spending, and strategies to improve spending efficiency using modern practices and innovative financing mechanisms, including public-private partnerships.
The agenda also includes exploring generative artificial intelligence applications in budgeting and public spending, as well as initiatives to enhance public financial literacy and awareness.
H.E. Younis Haji AlKhoori, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance, highlighted the UAE's role as a global hub for international financial and economic events. He underscored the importance of advanced technologies and regional collaboration in improving public spending efficiency, transparency, and achieving sustainable growth.
The UAE hosted last year’s OECD MENA SBO meeting in Dubai, which addressed topics like green budgeting and public finance reforms.
