UAE, 7 January, 2025 : The UAE Ministry of Finance, in collaboration with the Independent Evaluation Office of the New Development Bank (NDB), co-hosted a high-level technical workshop in Dubai under the theme “Learning from global experiences on sustainable development projects.” This first-of-its-kind event in the region focused on evaluation, internal audit, compliance, and investigation in infrastructure projects.
The workshop gathered over 100 participants, including government officials, private sector representatives, and international experts. Notable attendees included H.E. Younis Haji AlKhoori, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance, and senior representatives from the NDB, UN Women, the UN World Food Programme, and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, alongside diplomats from several countries.
H.E. AlKhoori highlighted the UAE’s commitment to sustainable development and international cooperation, emphasizing the workshop’s role in fostering knowledge exchange and South-South partnerships. He praised the NDB’s efforts to promote sustainable infrastructure as a driver of economic growth.
The workshop featured three sessions covering evaluation policies, internal audit methodologies, and compliance procedures for infrastructure projects. Discussions focused on innovative practices, challenges, and opportunities in sustainable development, underscoring the importance of transparent evaluation and audit processes.
Ashwani K. Muthoo, Director General of NDB’s Independent Evaluation Office, lauded the UAE’s role in advancing sustainable development goals through partnerships and capacity-building initiatives.
The UAE joined the NDB in 2021, reinforcing its dedication to supporting infrastructure and sustainability projects across developing and emerging economies.
