UAE Ministry of Finance Partners with AUD and ACCA to Advance Public Finance Excellence

UAE, 7 January, 2025 : The UAE Ministry of Finance (MoF) has signed two MoUs with the American University in Dubai (AUD) and the UK-based Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) to boost financial and accounting skills within the federal government.

The agreements aim to develop competencies through specialised training programs aligned with global standards. H.E. Younis Haji Al Khoori, Undersecretary of MoF, emphasized the importance of the partnerships in equipping financial professionals with advanced skills, including artificial intelligence and digital transformation tools, to strengthen public finance management.

Under the MoU with AUD, the university will launch the Executive Diploma Program in Government Financial Policy Sustainability in 2024-2025. This initiative will focus on financial sustainability, future government finance trends, and AI’s impact on financial analysis.

The ACCA partnership will introduce certifications in International Public Sector Accounting Standards (CERT IPSAS) and Sustainability for Finance (Cert SF). These programs will train finance professionals in accrual-based accounting and sustainable financial practices, enabling them to lead initiatives aligned with global standards.

Dr. Kyle Long of AUD and Malik Sarieddine of ACCA highlighted the collaboration’s potential to transform financial management in federal agencies and prepare professionals to address modern challenges. These initiatives align with MoF’s vision to promote excellence in public finance and sustainable development.
