UAE Ministry of Economy Launches Training to Strengthen DNFBP Compliance

UAE, 9 January, 2025 :  The UAE Ministry of Economy has introduced a specialised training programme to enhance compliance skills and awareness among compliance officers in Designated Non-Financial Businesses and Professions (DNFBPs). The initiative, in collaboration with the International Compliance Association (ICA), aims to strengthen efforts to combat money laundering and terrorist financing.

Safeya Hashem Al Safi, Acting Assistant Under-Secretary for Commercial Control and Governance, highlighted the programme's focus on raising compliance culture and aligning DNFBPs with global best practices to ensure financial integrity and economic stability.

The programme targets sectors such as real estate, precious metals trading, auditing, and corporate services, offering the first-of-its-kind "ICA/MoEc Certificate in AML/CFT DNFBPs." Spanning four months, it includes six core modules covering topics like due diligence, risk assessment, suspicious activity reporting, and sanctions guidelines.

Delivered through an interactive digital platform, participants can access study materials, attend virtual sessions, and attempt certification exams. This initiative aligns with the UAE’s commitment to fostering a resilient and compliant economic environment.
