Oman and Bahrain Strengthen Ties in Landmark Bilateral Meeting

Oman, 13 January, 2025 : The Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Bahrain reaffirm their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations during an upcoming meeting at Al Alam Palace. His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and King Hamad bin Issa Al Khalifa will lead discussions aimed at enhancing cooperation and integration across various sectors.

The Oman-Bahrain relationship, rooted in history and built on strategic trade ties like pearl fishing and frankincense, continues to flourish under the leadership of both nations. The visit reflects the two countries' shared vision, including Oman Vision 2040 and Bahrain Vision 2030, aiming to bolster economic, cultural, and political collaboration.

Trade between the two nations reached RO 247.1 million (USD 642.6 million) in 2023 but saw a decline in 2024. Despite this, Bahraini investments in Oman surged, with 315 companies operating by October 2024, and Omani companies maintaining significant presence in Bahrain’s service and commercial sectors.

Sayyid Faisal bin Hareb Al Busaidi, Oman’s Ambassador to Bahrain, emphasized the depth of bilateral ties and the promising outcomes expected from this meeting. He highlighted prior agreements, including those signed during Sultan Haitham's visit to Bahrain in 2022, which covered fields such as maritime transport, education, and investment.

Bahrain’s Ambassador to Oman, Juma Ahmed Al Kaabi, praised the historical partnership, describing it as a cornerstone of GCC unity. He noted that initiatives like the Oman-Bahrain Investment Company and joint cultural festivals signify a brighter future for cooperation.

The meeting is anticipated to produce agreements in education, food security, investment, and tourism, further enhancing the shared aspirations of both nations. With strong ties and mutual respect, the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Bahrain continue to set a benchmark for regional collaboration.
