UAE Economy Minister Showcases Nation’s Growth and Resilience at Davos 2025

UAE, 22 January, 2025 : Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy, underscored the pivotal role of the private sector in driving national economic growth during a session at the World Economic Forum in Davos 2025. Speaking at "Hard Power: A Wake-Up Call for Businesses Amid Global Economic Shifts," Al Marri highlighted the UAE’s model of successful public-private partnerships and its consistent efforts to involve the private sector in national strategies.

He noted that 200,000 new economic licenses were issued in 2024, reflecting the UAE’s dynamic economic environment. The session explored global tensions’ impact on businesses, emphasizing the need for sustainable practices, enhanced profitability, and incentives for entrepreneurs to expand into vital sectors.

Al Marri credited the UAE’s competitive edge to over 30 updated economic laws and policies in sectors such as e-commerce and fintech, as well as initiatives like 100% foreign ownership, advanced technological infrastructure, over 40 free zones, and long-term residency options for investors and professionals.

He also highlighted global challenges like trade tensions and supply chain disruptions, calling for flexible strategies that promote economic openness, emerging sectors, and a multilateral system. The UAE’s focus on technology, with investments in AI, fintech, and digital infrastructure, supports its position as a regional and global business hub, aligned with the "We the UAE 2031" vision.

Over the past four years, the UAE has established 25 joint economic committees with global partners, reinforcing its reputation as a trusted economic partner.
