Kuwait Seeks to Strengthen GCC Economic Integration, Says Minister Al-Fassam

Kuwait, 24 January, 2025 : Kuwait’s Minister of Finance and Minister of State for Economic Affairs, Noura Al-Fassam, emphasized Kuwait’s efforts to enhance Gulf economic integration during a symposium at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos. The event was organized by the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

Al-Fassam highlighted His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah’s directives, calling for unified policies, income diversification, and facilitating trade and investment flows to achieve economic integration. She also stressed the importance of focusing on key sectors like innovation and artificial intelligence to boost competitiveness.

Kuwait, which will preside over the GCC meetings in 2025, aims to enhance joint action amidst global economic challenges. Al-Fassam also called for increased investment in infrastructure, particularly in water security, to ensure sustainability in light of climate change.

The symposium discussed GCC economic achievements, future reforms, and strategies to improve financial sustainability. It emphasized investing in youth, expanding the green economy, and strengthening economic partnerships with other countries to attract foreign direct investments.

Key GCC officials, including ministers from Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Oman, also participated in the discussions.
