Oman, 28 January, 2025 : India’s Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, will visit Muscat for the 11th Joint Commission Meeting (JCM) with Oman’s Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion, H E Qais bin Mohammed al Yousef, from January 27-28, 2025. A business delegation will accompany Goyal for the Joint Business Council meeting between India’s FICCI and the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
This visit highlights the strong trade and investment ties between India and Oman, with bilateral trade exceeding $8.94 billion in the Indian fiscal year 2023-2024. Discussions are expected to focus on trade, investment, and the global economic landscape.
Talks on the India-Oman Free Trade Agreement (CEPA), which are already in advanced stages, are also expected to gain momentum during the visit. The two sides are negotiating a balanced, mutually beneficial agreement. Goyal will meet several Omani officials, including Minister of Finance H E Sultan bin Salim al Habsi and other key figures to discuss the CEPA and other areas of cooperation.
