Saudi-Jordan Trade Reaches $21.5 Billion, Expanding Opportunities in Key Sectors

KSA, 25 February, 2025 : The Saudi-Jordanian Joint Business Forum, hosted by the Jordan Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with the Federation of Saudi Chambers and Saudi Export Development Authority, took place in Amman on Monday.

Jordanian Minister of Trade, Industry, and Supply, Eng. Yarub Al-Qudah, highlighted the importance of economic integration between Saudi Arabia and Jordan, emphasizing the need for partnerships to access new markets, particularly in Africa. Central and East African markets, with a growth rate of 8%, were identified as key regions for future trade.

Dr. Hamdan Al-Samreen, head of the Saudi delegation, expressed optimism that the forum would enhance cooperation in sectors such as energy, mining, logistics, food security, chemical industries, education, and IT.

Trade between Saudi Arabia and Jordan grew to 15.3 billion Jordanian dinars (JOD) from 2019 to 2023. In the first 11 months of 2024, Jordan's exports to Saudi Arabia reached JOD1.03 billion, up from JOD910 million in the same period of 2023. Imports from Saudi Arabia during this period totaled JOD2.7 billion, compared to JOD2.3 billion in 2023.

Key exports from Jordan to Saudi Arabia include industrial chemicals, medicines, live animals, non-frozen fruit and vegetables, and base metals. Major imports from Saudi Arabia include mineral products, petroleum, industrial chemicals, and food items such as sugar.

Data from the International Trade Center highlights untapped export opportunities from Jordan to Saudi Arabia, with a potential $206 million gap for live sheep, $39 million for bromides, and $8 million for pharmaceutical products.
