Qatar General Tax Authority Unveils 100% Financial Penalty Exemption Initiative

Qatar, 26 February, 2025 : The General Tax Authority (GTA) has introduced a 100% financial penalty exemption initiative to support businesses and foster economic growth. Starting March 1, 2025, the initiative will run for six months and aims to help companies rectify their tax compliance status without the burden of penalties.

To qualify, businesses must register on the Dhareeba Tax Portal, update taxpayer data, submit required tax returns and financial statements, and commit to full compliance for the next three years. Applications for penalty exemptions will be assessed case-by-case through the portal.

Khalifa bin Jassim Al-Jaham Al-Kuwari, President of the GTA, emphasized that the initiative strengthens Qatar’s business landscape, enhances tax system transparency, and boosts the nation's economic competitiveness. The GTA encourages businesses to take advantage of this opportunity for improved tax compliance.
