The move reflects Dubai’s growing appeal to Indonesian businesses. Non-oil bilateral trade between the two markets exceeded AED 10 billion in the first nine months of 2024. The number of Indonesian businesses registered with the chamber grew 60% last year, reaching 160 by December 2024.
The first annual general meeting of the council was recently held at Dubai Chambers' headquarters. Members discussed strategies to enhance collaboration, host bilateral business events, and explore emerging opportunities.
Maha Al Gargawi, Vice President of Business Advocacy at Dubai Chambers, emphasized the role of Business Councils in fostering dialogue, cooperation, and private sector competitiveness to drive sustainable growth.
As part of its ongoing efforts, Dubai International Chamber inaugurated a representative office in Jakarta in 2023. In May 2024, a trade mission to Southeast Asia facilitated 200 bilateral business meetings between Dubai-based companies and Indonesian firms.
The mission also featured the ‘Doing Business with Indonesia’ forum, which attracted a record 472 participants, including high-ranking officials and business leaders. The strong turnout highlights Indonesia’s growing interest in partnerships with Dubai’s business community.
