ZATCA Announces VAT Refund for Contributors of Public Benefit Projects

KSA, 3 March, 2025 : The Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority (ZATCA) has introduced a service to refund VAT to individuals and entities involved in public benefit projects, such as building mosques, healthcare centers, and educational facilities.

To qualify for the refund, contributors must meet specific eligibility criteria, which can be reviewed through the authority’s website. The most important requirements include obtaining approval from the relevant authority for the project and submitting a contract or agreement for its implementation, unless the contributor is a legal person carrying out the project themselves.

ZATCA has clarified that contributors who cannot deduct VAT on project costs, such as real estate developers, are eligible to apply for this refund. For further details, individuals can contact ZATCA via their 24/7 helpline, email or instant chat through the authority’s website.
