FTA Urges Business Owners to Register for Corporate Tax Before March 2025

UAE, 21 March, 2025 : The Federal Tax Authority (FTA) has intensified its awareness efforts, urging natural persons conducting business in the UAE to submit their corporate tax registration applications before March 31, 2025, to avoid penalties.

As part of this initiative, the FTA launched an SMS campaign in collaboration with e& and Du, informing individuals earning AED 1 million or more in 2024 about their tax registration obligations. The campaign is part of a broader plan involving economic departments and relevant authorities to enhance tax compliance.

His Excellency Khalid Ali Al Bustani, Director-General of the FTA, emphasized that timely registration will help individuals avoid an administrative fine of AED 10,000 for late registration. He highlighted the FTA’s continuous efforts through traditional and social media, emails, and press releases to ensure taxpayers understand their responsibilities.

The FTA clarified that natural persons, including sole proprietors and joint venture partners, must register if their business revenue exceeds AED 1 million in a calendar year. For instance, if an individual’s revenue surpassed this threshold by July 31, 2024, they must register by March 31, 2025, and file their tax return by September 30, 2025.

Registration Options
Taxpayers can register via EmaraTax (https://eservices.tax.gov.ae) or at Tas’heel Centres across the UAE. The FTA also provides comprehensive resources, including the Guidance Manual on the Registration of Natural Persons, available on its website.
