Oman, 14 April, 2025 : Bilateral relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of the Netherlands continue to thrive, with both nations committed to expanding cooperation in diverse sectors. His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik’s recent state visit to the Netherlands highlighted the shared priorities of trade, investment, sustainable development, and regional stability.

In 2024, trade between the two countries reached OMR181.27 million ($471.5 million). Oman's exports to the Netherlands were valued at OMR41.4 million, while imports totaled OMR125.87 million. The Netherlands also made significant foreign investments in Oman, amounting to OMR390.5 million by the end of 2024, while Omani investments in the Netherlands were valued at OMR278.3 million in 2023.

Ambassador Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Salim Al Harthy emphasized the historic ties between the two nations, dating back to 1670, when the Netherlands first established an office in Muscat. Over the years, their relationship has flourished in political, economic, and cultural spheres. Both countries have focused on investment opportunities, especially in sectors like oil and gas, renewable energy, logistics, and agriculture.

Oman’s participation in the Dutch Travel Week and the hosting of Dutch athletes in Dhofar have bolstered cultural exchange. In addition, the presence of Dutch companies in Oman, such as the Port of Rotterdam and APM Terminals in Salalah, reflects deepening commercial ties.

Stella Kloth, Ambassador of the Netherlands to Oman, highlighted the long-standing relationship rooted in maritime trade and mutual cooperation. She pointed to key areas like energy transition, green hydrogen, and water management as focal points for future collaboration. Both countries also aim to enhance educational exchanges, with 61 Omani students currently studying in the Netherlands.

This evolving partnership is seen as a crucial step toward fostering innovation, economic growth, and sustainable development, benefiting both nations and contributing to regional and global progress.
