ZATCA Launches AS’HMT to Enhance Internal Auditing in Government

KSA, 16 April, 2025 : The Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority (ZATCA) has launched the AS’HMT Initiative to enhance the role of internal auditing across government entities. Rooted in ZATCA’s core values and strategic vision, the initiative aims to boost governance, improve audit quality, and promote best practices through knowledge exchange.

AS’HMT focuses on upholding professional standards, strengthening internal control systems, and fostering a compliance-driven audit culture. It also supports ZATCA’s broader goals, including building a skilled audit team, driving operational excellence, and advancing digital transformation in audit processes.

ZATCA previously became the first government body in Saudi Arabia to achieve the highest maturity level "Optimizing" in an Independent External Quality Assessment by the Saudi Institute of Internal Auditors. The recognition underscores its commitment to global best practices and internal audit excellence.
