Kuwait and Egypt Strengthen Ties with Focus on Investment and Regional Stability

Kuwait, 17 April, 2025 : Kuwait and Egypt have agreed to strengthen their economic, commercial, and investment relations, according to a joint statement following Egyptian President Abdelfattah Al-Sisi’s official visit to Kuwait on April 14–15. The visit came at the invitation of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

During high-level talks, both sides reaffirmed their deep-rooted bilateral relations and strategic partnership. Kuwait expressed its intent to invest in key Egyptian sectors such as energy, agriculture, industry, IT, real estate, banking, and pharmaceuticals. Cooperation will also expand across infrastructure, healthcare, education, culture, and tourism.

Both parties praised progress in bilateral relations and confirmed participation in the upcoming Gulf-Egypt Investment Forum in Cairo. The statement also highlighted mutual support in international forums, including Kuwait’s backing of Egypt’s candidate for UNESCO Director-General (2025–2029).

The leaders discussed regional developments and reiterated their call for a ceasefire in Gaza, condemning Israeli violations and calling for the protection of civilians and delivery of humanitarian aid in line with UN Resolution 2720. They reaffirmed their commitment to the two-state solution based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as the Palestinian capital.

On Syria, both nations called for a transitional government in line with UN Resolution 2254 and emphasized preserving Syria’s sovereignty. They also condemned Israeli occupation in Syria and stressed the need for disengagement per the 1974 agreement.

Regarding Lebanon, Kuwait and Egypt welcomed the recent election of a new president and government, encouraging full implementation of UN Resolution 1701 and support for Lebanese institutions, particularly the army.

The visit underscored both nations' commitment to regional stability, peace, and economic integration.
