Muscat Gears Up for 48th ADFIAP Meet on Finance, Sustainability, and Innovation

Oman, 21 April, 2025 :  Muscat will host the 48th Annual Meeting of the Association of Development Financing Institutions in Asia and the Pacific (ADFIAP) from April 23–25, 2025. Organised by the Development Bank (DB) at the Mandarin Oriental Muscat, the event will spotlight the role of development finance in driving sustainable economic growth.

Held under the theme “Economic Gardening and Development,” the forum will focus on key topics including community empowerment, entrepreneurial ecosystems, green banking, climate resilience, and sustainable finance. Around 300 participants from over 40 countries are expected to attend, including top finance experts, decision-makers, and development specialists.

The opening ceremony will be held under the patronage of H.E. Eng. Said bin Hamoud Al Maawali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology.

Hamad bin Salim Al Harthy, Chief MSME & Portfolio Management at DB and General Supervisor of the Meeting, emphasised the forum’s role in strengthening international partnerships and knowledge exchange. He noted that Oman’s hosting of the event aligns with the goals of Oman Vision 2040 and highlights the country’s growing role in regional development finance.

The event will also include the signing of MoUs, interactive sessions, sustainability awards, and a cultural tour of Nizwa. Oman joined ADFIAP in 2019 and is among the first Arab countries to be a member, with the Development Bank actively engaged in training, exchange visits, and green finance initiatives.

Al Harthy added that DB’s microfinance products support entrepreneurship, innovation, and youth employment, helping to build resilient communities and promote economic sustainability.
