Muscat Hosts Key Talks on Oman-US Free Trade Agreement

Oman, 24 April, 2025 :  The Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) hosted a meeting today with US trade officials to review the Oman-US Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and address challenges impacting its implementation.

Talks centered on barriers facing Omani exporters and importers, particularly US-imposed tariffs, with Omani representatives urging a review to better support the private sector.

Officials also highlighted the upcoming launch of Oman’s new commercial office in the US, expected to boost Omani exports and attract American investments into the Sultanate.

A parallel workshop brought together Omani and US exporters, importers, and investors to discuss trade and investment obstacles.

OCCI Chairman Faisal Abdullah Al Rowas underscored the FTA’s role in strengthening economic ties and opening US market access for Omani products. He called for stronger cooperation between public and private sectors to maximize the agreement’s benefits.

The meeting included senior US officials, including the Assistant US Trade Representative for Europe and the Middle East and the Director for European and Middle Eastern Affairs.
