Oman, 24 April, 2025 : Omani-Russian relations have witnessed a significant leap forward, said Qais Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, highlighting the importance of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik’s recent visit to Russia.
The visit marks a pivotal moment in bilateral ties, underlining the strength of relations based on mutual respect and growing cooperation across various sectors, Al Yousef told the Oman News Agency (ONA).
He noted that Omani-Russian ties have evolved significantly, culminating in Oman’s role as guest of honor at the 2023 St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. This milestone enabled high-level meetings with Russian institutions, boosting collaboration in economic and cultural fields.
Al Yousef emphasized the cultural connection between the two countries, built through artistic exchange and participation in international events, which has deepened mutual understanding.
Calling Russia a strategic partner, the minister stressed that the visit has paved the way for enhanced partnerships in priority sectors such as logistics, tourism, energy, food security, technology, and manufacturing.
Several agreements and MoUs were signed during the visit, including a protocol on Economic and Technical Cooperation, the creation of a Joint Economic Committee, and cooperation pacts in climate change, low-carbon development, and transport.
These agreements, he said, provide a strong institutional foundation for private-sector investment and deeper economic collaboration.
Al Yousef reaffirmed Oman’s commitment to creating a secure and attractive investment environment amid global economic challenges and expressed confidence that the visit will usher in a new era of close cooperation.
