The Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority recently entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the South Korean Customs, focusing on mutual recognition of an economic operator program endorsed by both nations. This collaboration, witnessed by Suhail bin Mohammed Abanmi and KO Kwang-hyo, aims to bolster supply chain security and streamline trade by extending privileges to accredited economic operators by both customs authorities. The goal is to expedite goods clearance at customs ports, foster trade relations, and bolster the economies of both countries.
This MoU was formalized during the third regular meeting between the South Korean Customs delegation and the Authority. The discussions during the meeting centered on collaborative strategies and various customs-related matters of mutual interest.
Furthermore, the meeting included discussions about the "Clearance within Two Hours" initiative. This initiative serves as a model for coordinated efforts among customs clearing authorities, aimed at solidifying the Kingdom's position as a pivotal logistics hub. Additionally, the Authority reviewed the "Digital Employee" service during the session, emphasizing its role in enhancing the quality of digital services offered to taxpayers and customers across zakat, tax, and customs sectors. This service leverages artificial intelligence technologies and solutions to optimize operations in these key areas.
